Cartagena has a lot to offer outside the old colonial town. Another place we recommend to visit is the Bazurto Market.

The Bazurto Market has everything you could ever need. It is a traditional vegetable, fish, meat, fruit, clothing and even art market.

You will be amazed by the market’s complexity once you allow yourself to get lost in this adventurous labyrinth made of multiple food stands.

At every corner, you’ll have the opportunity to taste some food and drinks. Additionally, you will be introduced to some local vendors and artist who will proudly show you their work.

Itinerary:

This tour starts by picking you up in your hotel in Cartagena and taking a public bus or taxi to get to the Manga Neighborhood, where the market is located.

During the ride, your guide will already tell you plenty of stories and information about the places you pass by along the way.

You will already start to witness a completely different architecture and vibe than in the colonial center.

Once inside the market, you will be guided through the different areas of the market. You will start in the toys and cloths are and then move towards the fruits and vegetables. Here, you will have the chance to taste some exotic fruits and juices.

You will then pass by the meat and fish areas where you can see all the different types of fish that locals catch in the surrounding waters of Cartagena.

Afterwards, this Bazurto Market tour continues by taking you to visit some amazing artists: a local DJ who is an expert in Champeta (a local genre) and some posters designers and creators.

Finally, it will be time for lunch. You will be taken to the most famous food stand of the market where you will get to try some authentic fresh dishes. We recommend you try turtle meat and eggs, the house specialty.

Then, you will take the bus or taxi back to the center of Cartagena. This is a group tour. The tours are usually of around 8 people.
