Go on an authentic and off-the-beaten-track experience by joining local fishermen in their daily efforts to catch the best fish in the waters surrounding Cartagena. 

The Caribbean and its adjacent swamp waters are a fishing paradise. The whole coastline, but especially Cartagena, is known for its cuisine that uses freshly caught fish in its recipes. The fish on your plate in a fancy restaurant might be fished by some local fishermen, or maybe even by you on this tour!

Wouldn’t it be a really entertaining way to get know an alternative sight of the city by fishing together with local fishermen in their canoe? Most of them are Afro-Colombian descendants and live in an area of Cartagena called La Boquilla. It is a less-developed and less-touristic zone, making it a very interesting place to see another face of Cartagena and to embark on a true adventure.

There are two muddy lagoons to be discovered: Cienaga de Juan Polo and Cianaga de la Virgen. First, you will be brought to La Boquilla from where you will go with our trained fishermen and English-speaking guide to the two lagoons in order to try to catch some Sea Bass, Shad, Sea Bream, Ocean Bass, Mullet, snails, clams, shrimps and craw-fish.

The fisherman will show and teach you their 3 typical fishing methods: line fishing, netting, and trapping.While waiting for the perfect catch, you will be told amazing stories and able to ask all your questions about the Cartagenean fisherman´s life.

After the 2 hours fishing trip you will be brought back to La Boquilla for a refreshing drink, before heading back to the hotel.
