The lake of Iguaque is a sacred lake and mythical site to the indigenous Muisca people. They say it is a magical place where you can clean your spirit and renovate you energy by the deep contact with the nature there.
The lake itself is located in the Páramo which is a specific climatic zone with unique flora and fauna.
To get there you will first be brought by car to the entrance of the national park and then you will start your 8 kilometers, 6 hours, hike uphill through the cloud forest.
A professional guide will lead you there and provide you with as much explanation as possible on the flora and fauna.
The complete tour will last around 6 hours.
For those without time to visit a paramo in Villa de Leyva, we recommend to check out our paramo hike in the coffee zone.
