San Agustin is a small colonial town nestled in the green mountains of south Colombia.
It´s mainly famous because of its mysterious archaeological sites of pre-Columbian civilizations. Many of the most important sites are located in the surroundings of San Agustin and are not that easy accessible.
A half a day trip on the back of a horse is the ideal way to explore prominent spots while taking in the picturesque scenery on your way.
You will be accompanied by a guide giving information and explanations about the ancient statues.

San Agustin was declared a world heritage site in 1995. The archaeological park displays gorgeous statues and burial set-ups. However, the surroundings of San Agustin are absolutely worth a visit as well because the archaeological findings are still in situ and are well-hidden in the lush mountains.
